Hey, what is the deal with all of the fees and expenses associated with a background check? I don't get it. I was interviewing candidates for a live-in caregiver position for my folks and I couldn't believe that the local state police office wanted a $40 fee per background check!
The last time I checked, criminal records are public records, right? My tax dollars are already paying for the collection and storage of the records, but I should still have to fork over $40 just to have them run a criminal records search? I don't think so! Worse yet, they said I have to get the applicants consent to run the criminal record search through the police office! What a freakin' joke...
As far as I am concerned, public record access to criminal records, court records, and dmv records should be absolutely FREE to all taxpayers. And screw the privacy nuts who don't want anyone to know anything without first alerting the SUBJECT of your search what you are doing!!!!
One of the officer's I was complaining too suggested I take a look at this site. All I can say is "WOW"! Unlimited background check searches without having to get anyone's permission first:
